Sports Illustrated 2016 Swimsuit Edition - Fit at every size.
For the first time in the magazine’s history, Sports Illustrated announced three separate covers for their 2016 Swimsuit edition. Ronda Rousey, Hailey Clausen and Ashley Graham are all gracing their own covers, representing the diversity of female beauty. Assistant Managing Editor MJ Day said, “All three women are beautiful, sexy and strong. Beauty is not one size fits all.”
While Clausen could be seen as the typical cover girl for the swimsuit edition, Rousey and Graham represent different body shapes and we think it’s great to see this type of magazine embrace a more modern beauty.
UFC champion Ronda Rousey shows off her athletic body in a painted one-piece and reveals that she was bullied as a child for her body shape. “I got teased a lot for my muscles growing up, I was so self conscious about it. This cover really helps to break down body image stereotypes.”
Body activist and size-16 model, Ashley Graham was honoured to be included in this historic edition. “To have somebody who has cellulite, who has things that jiggle, who has back fat and actually talk about them – that’s real and that’s what we need in this society.”
These covers are a great message for women to embrace their natural body shape – fit at every size is our motto at Hyperluxe! You just need to keep moving whether it be running, acro yoga, trapeze or walking the dog!
